Now players can order goods straight from mobile games

Shopify, Canadian Internet commerce platform, has introduced Unity Buy devkit allowing buying real goods in games.

Using Unity Buy SDK developers can add into any Unity game a virtual “showcase” with goods that can be ordered by players.

Possibilities of Shopify are already used in the Alto’s Adventure indie platformer of the Snowman studio, where gamers can buy warm socks, knitted hats and other brand merchandise.

Unity Buy also allows opening access to goods when a player reaches a certain point in the game. Devkit can use in-game data: for example, a player can buy a T-shirt displaying his in-game progress.

Unity Buy SDK is available to all developers with a Shopify account. For more information, including detailed guidance on the use of devkit visit the company’s website.

Unity Buy SDK can be used to:

  • fetch information about a single product or a collection of products in Shopify
  • create an in-game shopping cart where customers can select product options and quantities
  • generate a checkout for a single product or an entire cart.
